Meet the teacher

A little bit more about moi...

I have been teaching (at the same school) since September 2005. My first year I taught core French, my 2-6 years I taught 3/4 French Immersion. My 7th and 8th years were a triple 3/4/5. Every year has been exciting and memorable, as I have been lucky to teach such wonderful students (and even luckier to get some of the same ones back again this year!)

I grew up in a smallish town in Ontario- known for it's agriculture, Canadian geese and wineries. I was a French Immersion student from Kindergarten to Grade 13, graduating with a bilingual High School diploma.

I graduated from the University with a Bachelor of Science and then Bachelor of Education. I am able to teach Primary, Junior and Intermediate aged students. I have taken many Additional Qualifications courses in French, Special Education, Math and Religious Studies. and I look forward to continuing my education throughout my teaching career.

My biggest hobbies fall into the Arts and technology. I spend most of my free time painting, drawing and doing crafts, graphic designing and video editing. I am also very interested in music - especially playing my trumpet. I have played in pit orchestras and various concert bands. I have a passion for musical theatre. I also like to play sports. I play tennis and soccer and I am a former lifeguard and gymnast. I love Yoga too!

I spend a lot of time adventuring and relaxing with my family. I married my husband (another teacher!) in 2007. In 2011, we welcomed our son and in 2014 we welcomed our daughter. We are having such a fabulous time playing and exploring.

In my classroom, I promote an atmosphere of safety, trust, respect and creativity. I work hard to build a sense of community among my students, and I emphasize the idea of teamwork. I value cooperation and collaboration. I believe that great things can happen when we work together!
